Timmy Vegas of Soul Central has achieved UK Top 10 record status in 2004 in the form of the club hit ‘Strings Of Life (Stronger On My Own)’ featuring vocal diva Kathy Brown. Timmy has gone on to achieve a steady stream of underground club hits – including Soul Central’s ‘Need You Now’ and his club smash “Dutty Funk” (We Can Do). Under the Soul Central banner, Timmy and production partner Andy Ward continue to sit at the forefront of house music worldwide – 2007 saw their production “Time After Time” smash club charts worldwide on the Soul Heaven imprint, whilst they enjoyed more crossover success with their Soul Central mix of Fedde Le Grande’s anthem ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’
As one half of DJ/production duo Soul Central, Timmy Vegas, aka Paul Timothy, is currently one of the most exciting producer DJs on the UK scene. Alongside Andy Ward as Soul Central,
Timmy has been responsible for some of the most banging club releases of the past few years; his solo productions have fared similarly well.
Hailing from Birmingham UK, Timmy frequented old-school clubs including Timeout Raw and Pandemonium in the late 1980s and worked with Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin before meeting Andy and forming Soul Central. The duo went on to release cuts on labels including
Soundmen on Wax, Henry Street Records and Masters At Work’s KenLou imprint, while their 2004 rendition of Derrick May’s Detroit techno classic ‘Strings Of Life (Stronger On My Own)’
was one of the biggest tracks at 2004’s Miami Winter Music Conference.
Soul Central pre-released ‘Need You Now’ – a rework of Nikita Warren’s 1996 ‘I Need You’ – in Miami in March 2005 and the track received strong reviews and support from the likes of Roger Sanchez, Danny Krivit, Tedd Patterson and Brian Tappert.
More recently, Timmy has been building an impressive discography as a solo artist..
